News 2011

 November 14th 2011

9 out of the 10 defibrillators are now installed! It’s been a long old haul, for various reasons, but we are VERY NEARLY THERE with the 10th still planned for Manton phone box if we can get the electrics sorted.

The defibrillators are at:

1. Kennet Pharmacy, George Lane

2. St. John’s School

3. The Mace Shop, Lawrence Acres

4. Marlborough Town Library

5. Marlborough Town Hall

6. Drove Veterinary Surgery, London Rd

7. Costcutters, The Mead

8. Mildenhall Village Hall

9. The White Hart, Burbage

While the Friends still own the defibs, we’re hoping that the Town Council will ‘adopt’ them all. Training sessions will be held for the defib hosts (where they’re installed) and Town Councillors in the New Year, and Community Heartbeat will be working with other groups to organise training for the wider community.

We have to say ‘thank you’ to Ted and Dorice Beauchamp, whose generous bequest to the Friends of Savernake made this project possible.

August 9th 2011: Planning permission being sought for defibrillator on Town Hall

We  hope the defibrillator on the exterior of the Town Hall will be installed in September, after planning permission is given. The same permission is being asked for the defibrillator in Manton.

Once the Town Hall defib is installed, training sessions will be organised for everyone interested.

June 27th 2011: Grant awarded to Burbage Surgery

The Friends have awarded a grant to Burbage Surgery, to help equip a new treatment room which is being built as we speak. The treatment room is scheduled to open in September 2011. The grant was made possible by a generous bequest from Mr Cyril Harding, who lived in Burbage, and we’re hoping to instal a plaque in the treatment room marking his kindness.

June 6th 2011:Out of Hours returns to Savernake

Isn’t it great about the Out of Hours service coming back to Savernake Hospital? From July 2011 the service will be available every weekday, from 6.30pm till midnight, and at weekends from 8am to midnight.

June 2nd 2011:Physio Dept gets some new equipment

The Friends have been able to help the Physio Department at Savernake Hospital to buy some really good equipment for using on Ailesbury Ward. The grant enabled them to buy all sorts of up-to-date, quality equipment which will really help the patients; and it will also help them to help more patients as some of the new equipment can be used without supervision.
